THE SINS OF THE MAN I CALLED DAD

“The Sins of the Man I Called Dad” is the unforgettable memoir of Christine Petrizzo, who lays bare the complicated bond she shared with her father, Thomas Petrizzo. Behind the image of a devoted family man was a figure whose ties to organized crime shaped every chapter of their lives. Christine’s story begins in Brooklyn, where childhood rituals of laughter, church, and family dinners were shadowed by secrets and sudden absences. She recalls moments of joy with her sisters and grandparents, yet those memories are intertwined with fear, betrayal, and the silent cost of her father’s choices. From lavish celebrations to mob-linked encounters, from whispered affairs to shocking acts of selfishness, the book reveals how appearances of wealth and power masked a family unraveling under the weight of deception. As Christine traces the arc of her father’s life—from neighborhood beginnings to mob wars, arrests, and ultimate decline—she offers readers an unflinching portrait of loyalty tested and trust broken. Alongside these revelations, she reflects on her own struggles with love, marriage, and loss, drawing painful parallels between her father’s betrayals and the challenges in her own relationships. Told with honesty and courage, this memoir is not only a record of one family’s experience but also a meditation on resilience, forgiveness, and the search for truth when the past refuses to remain buried.
