The Revised Gospels of Jesus Christ, (Paperback)

The Revised Gospels of Jesus Christ by Jeff Hood is a bold, prophetic reimagining of the four Gospels set in the streets, prisons, and margins of contemporary America. Written in a single inspired night, these revisionary narratives transpose the life of Jesus into the world of death row inmates, undocumented immigrants, the unhoused, and the systemically oppressed - asking readers to encounter the radical Christ not in ancient Judea, but in modern spaces and places.

In Hood's retelling, Jesus is a death row prisoner in Harris County. Mary and Joseph cross the desert as undocumented migrants fleeing violence. The Sermon on the Mount becomes a cry against mass incarceration. The wise men arrive by bus from the East Coast. These are not mere literary devices - they are theological confrontations, challenging readers to ask whether the Gospel still speaks to the suffering of today.

Written with raw urgency and spiritual fire, The Revised Gospels is essential reading for:

Christians wrestling with faith and social justice

Activists seeking spiritual grounding for their work

Pastors, chaplains, and prison ministers

Anyone who has found traditional religion too comfortable
